Today I had to do my environmental portrait assignment. I was originally supposed to shoot with Briana but she has the flu. For a few hours I was kind of freaking out trying to book models. I finally got in touch with Adriana through Model Mayhem. We met at the mall and she bought an outfit. The weather was completely unforgiving today and raining off and on. We went to this basketball court that was covered in this really awesome graffiti. The location looks really cool but it was very sketchy. Broken beer bottles and rubber gloves. I don't even want to know what people do there at night. Adriana was a total trooper and pulled off some great poses despite the fact she must have been freezing in her mini dress. I'm excited to post the pictures once they're ready. It was my first time using small flash on my camera and it was a bit of a nightmare. The recycle time on them is way too long for fashion shoots. But I guess that's why Photoshop can be a blessing. This assignment was also exciting because I think it's the first time I've completely made my own lighting schematics. Well put some thought into it unlike my older pictures where I just snapped the shutter and hoped for the best. It was good to have some more experience using models I don't know. I definitely want to work with her again sometime but maybe in the summer when it's warm.
